Del Decil graduated from the Academy of Commercial Art and the John Herron Art Institute, of Indianapolis. She worked as a staff artist for the Indianapolis News. Know as Del Walters she was named one of ten top fashion design artists in the U.S. by the American Merchants Association. Del was named Advertising Woman of the Year by Indianapolis Advertising Club. She in the Indiana State Archival Library and Arizona State University Library Archives. Feature articles about Del have been published in magazines and newspapers in Chicago, California, and New York including Gazette Newspapers, Phoenix Republic, Scottsdale Progress, Carefree Enterprise, Indianapolis News and Star, Indianapolis Times, Arizona Living, Prescott Courier, Prescott Valley Tribune, Southwest Art, Brides Magazine, Saturday Evening Post and Phoenix Magazine. Del taught painting and drawing classes at the Phoenix Art Museum for many years. Del became Art Director for Diamonds (now Dillard’s) Department Stores. As an artist she has shown her work in fourteen solo Art Exhibits. She was chosen to represent the state of Arizona in the exhibit “Arizona, Past, Present and Future” at the Arizona State Capitol.
