I agree with whoever said that style is a matter of vision, not of technique. Over the years I have applied certain original techniques because I felt that they enhanced my style, thus my vision as an artist. Many years ago I became enchanted with color, its mystery and its power. My favorite painters have always been the colorists. The techniques I have acquired and applied to my work have been designed to emphasize this power and mystery of color. The use of Gel medium, for example, brings more light and brilliance to the color surfaces. The black outlines, done by a kind of resist method in coordination with the gel medium, are also to emphasize and enhance the effects of the color. Normally I do not mix colors very much. I prefer to let the pure colors suggest tonal qualities and subtle shades where they are desired.
