Maria Boos grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico. She worked in a pottery factory from the time she was fourteen until she was twenty one years old. At her workplace she met and married an American potter who had come to study pottery making while working in Maria’s factory in Guadalajara. They decided to bring their work to the United States in 1983, and landed in the state of California. Maria was quickly hired by the Barbara Vantrease Beall Studio in Los Angeles, CA, where she spent nine months painting exotic designs on multiple sized tiles. She fashioned her own unique paint brushes from dog and cat hairs and those special brushes helped Maria execute her magical designs. The family moved to Prescott, AZ in 1987. During their first fifteen years in AZ, Maria painted hundreds of complicated designs on her husbands’ pottery until she decided to enter the work force and create her own style of artistic painting on pre fired pottery.
When Maria was working in Guadalajhara she was tutored by many of the finest pottery painters in Mexico and she quickly developed her own amazing style. Maria uses special outdoor house paints that will stand up to the outdoor elements. She can create her designs using any color combinations that are desired for her collectors needs. Her prices range from $150 to $210.
